Digital Divas (the soft launch)

Who the heck are the Digital Divas? Well, it’s a long story. It all began more than six months ago when Matt came to me and Nikki and asked us to create an e-newsletter with tips, tricks and all the latest trends in digital marketing.

So, of course, Nikki and I got to work brainstorming fun names for this future e-newsletter… and Digital Divas was born.

And that’s about as far as we got.

Resch Strategies has been quite busy as of late, with all of our clients adjusting to the new landscape in Lansing, and sadly Digital Divas slowly sank to the bottom of our inbox. But, no longer! Today is the *soft launch* of Digital Divas in the form of this blog post. Please bear with us as we work out the kinks and figure out how Digital Divas communications will take shape moving forward.

What’s new?

Earlier this month, I attended Canva Create — a virtual event where Canva launched ten new features, many of them utilizing AI technology. Here’s the full list of what was introduced:

  • Brand Hub

  • Magic Edit and Eraser

  • Magic Presentation

  • Magic Design

  • Create an Animation

  • BeatSync

  • Text to Image

  • Draw

  • Magic Write

  • Translate

From this list, I’m particularly excited to start using Brand Hub, Magic Design and Create an Animation.

I have been using Canva’s branding features for years now. With multiple clients asking for graphic design deliverables, it’s really important to keep each client’s branding separate and organized. Saving brand colors, logos, fonts, elements, and more all in one easy-to-use place will be even easier now with Brand Hub.

Magic Design allows you to upload your own media and then Canva will automatically generate personalized design templates for you. So you can skip all of the time you spend scrolling through the endless template options! I think this will be great for many design projects going forward, especially when my creativity needs a jumpstart.

The new Create an Animation feature lets users drag elements across their design and draw a path for their element to follow, customizing the animation. How cool! I use Canva’s animation tools frequently when making GIFs or videos for social media but it will be awesome to be able to personalize animations moving forward.

What’s trending?

If you’ve ever had a conversation with me, or are a regular listener of the Cold Oatmeal Podcast, you probably know I like Taylor Swift.

And, if you don’t live under a rock, you probably know that she’s touring right now (the same tour that broke TicketMaster last year). Opening night was March 17. Since then, my TikTok and other social media platforms have been pushing so much Eras Tour content on me that I feel like I haven’t seen a video about anything else in weeks.

From videos of Taylor’s quick changes on stage to concert-goers showing off their Fearless-era-inspired outfits to articles about all 44 songs included on the set list… It’s a lot.

But I think that’s what I love most about TikTok and its all-powerful algorithm. TikTok always seems to know what I want to see and what will draw me into the app for longer — creating a personalized experience for each user.

Definitely something to think about in regard to the content we create and share as marketers: How can we better engage our audiences? What do our audiences actually care about and want to see? Just food for thought.
